The Integrated National Boards Dental Examination (INBDE) is a newly implemented exam replacing Parts I and II of the National Boards Dental Examination. It is a required exam for licensure in the United States. The INBDE is a two-day exam, although the two days do not have to be consecutive, with the first day consisting of 360 stand-alone and case-based questions and the second day consisting of 140 questions in a case-based format.
👉 Eligibility
The Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations has set candidate eligibility requirements in order to challenge the exam. The candidate must be a current student at a CODA-accredited or non-CODA-accredited program, former student at a CODA-accredited program, a dentist who has graduated from a CODA-accredited or non-CODA-accredited program, or a general candidate (educated by a non-CODA-accredited program). In all cases, the program and/or candidate must provide documentation to either show that the program deems the candidate ready for the exam (current students at CODA-accredited programs) or confirmation that the candidate has been enrolled or has completed the program. Candidates from a non-CODA-accredited program may need to fill out the “INBDE Certification of Eligibility” which can be downloaded from the following page: https://jcnde.ada.org/en/inbde/apply-to-take-the-inbde.
